Questions about Ingredients

We frequently get questions about the ingredients in our products, and we’re always glad to give you an honest answer. Every product on our website has the ingredients listed below the product image. Directly below the ingredients, you’ll find a link to the Safety Data Sheet for the product. In addition to frequently asked questions, we occasionally get asked something out of the ordinary. Here are some of the questions we’ve been asked, along with the answers. We also have answers to other questions on our Massage FAQ page.

Are your products organic?
We manufacture organic products, as well as non-organic products. Soothing Touch is a Certified Organic Manufacturing Facility (certified by the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, a state agency of the USDA). We label and advertise our products honestly, so there is never a mistake about what is organic and what isn’t. We do not try to mislead anyone about that by giving names to our non-organic products that indicate they are organic when that is not true. You can find our organic products here.

Are your products tested on animals?
Never. We recently turned down the opportunity to have our products distributed in a foreign country that requires animal testing of imported skin care products. We have always been and will always be a cruelty-free manufacturer.

Do your products contain animal products?
Narayan Balm contains pure beeswax (bees are not harmed in the harvest of beeswax). That is the only animal product in any of our products, and we use that instead of the petroleum base that is in other competing products.  We sometimes get asked if other ingredients are from animal or plant sources, and the answer to that is plant-sourced ingredients. It is part of our company philosophy to use plant-based ingredients.

Do your products contain nut oils?
Many of them do. If nut allergies are a concern to you or your massage clients, please read the ingredients carefully before applying the product. All of our manufacturing is done in our facility that uses nut oil. We cannot make any guarantees that something is 100% nut free. We do provide ingredients lists which can be evaluated by the therapist, the client or the doctor. We do offer a Nut Free Lite Oil that does not contain any nut oils. We also offer other products that contain no nut oils. But, there is always the risk of cross contamination since our facility uses nut products as well. Keep in mind: anyone can be allergic to more than one ingredient. We recommend that all therapists require a thorough questionnaire before treatment

Are your products non-GMO?                                                                             Yes.

Are your products gluten-free?

Are there parabens in your products?
No. We are a paraben-free company.

Are your products hypoallergenic?
Yes, but keep in mind people sometimes develop an allergy to something they’ve never had a reaction to before. We recommend that all therapists require a thorough questionnaire before treatment.

Do your products contain artificial fragrances?
No. Our scented products are manufactured with pure essential oils and botanical extracts.

We are proud of the products we make and we are committed to  ongoing research and development, being environmentally-friendly, and improving our manufacturing processes. This year is our 40th anniversary of being in business. We must be doing something right! Anytime you have a question, feel free to contact me at or send a message through our Facebook page. You will
receive a prompt answer.

Hi. I love the Cedar Sage Bath Salts, but my question is what exactly is EVAPORATED Sea Salt? I understand Dead Sea Salt and all the other salts; is evaporated sea salt what I have in my kitchen? What I use in my food? And aren’t all these salts evaporated? Thank you. Just a little confused here.
