How to Find a Product Lot Number
Every Soothing Touch product is manufactured with a Lot Number. The Lot Number is four digits. The four digits are a Julian Calendar date that represents the exact date of manufacture.
The Lot Number is typically found on the side or bottom of our product containers. Our Lot Numbers are either printed directly on our product containers or on an attached label (sticker).
Note: On a 2 gallon or 5 gallon size bucket, the lot number may be on the bottom.
How Soothing Touch uses 4 digit Julian date Lot Numbers:
Example: 9015 = January 15, 2029
The first digit (9), represents the year. This number changes from 0 to 9 as the years progress. 0 is always the first year of a decade and 9 is the last year. This pattern repeats without exception.
The year 2020, date of January 15 is Julian date 0015 The year 2025, date of January 15 is Julian date 5015 The year 2029, date of January 15 is the Julian Date 9015 The year 2030, date of January 15 is the Julian Date 0015The last 3 digits (015), represent the day of the year.
There are 365 days in a normal year. There are 366 days in a leap year. There are three normal years followed by a leap year. This pattern repeats without exception.
To help convert our lot code from the Julian date to the Gregorian date, we’ve provided a Julian calendar below. Please note that there is a normal and a leap year Julian calendar.
Julian Calendar dates are also known as a JDATE or Ordinal Date. A full Julian date contains 5 digits. Soothing Touch uses 4 digits with decadal rotation.

The LOT Code for Soothing Touch products (except Lip Balms prior to 2023) can be found printed toward the bottom of the bottle/jar/pail or on the label. It is a 4 digit number. See below for an explanation of the code.
LIP BALMS Prior to 2023: The LOT Code for Lip Balms was previously a 3 digit alphanumeric code printed on the label in black ink. If you have questions about a lip balm product created prior to 2023, please contact us at customerservice@soothingtouch.com for assistance in translating your lot number codes.
